Genocide Commemoration

ACOM is excited to inform the public about an upcoming talk in commemoration of the 109th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide. The event will feature a presentation by Dr. Melanie O’Brien, a renowned expert in the field, who will discuss “Human Rights Violations in the Armenian Genocide.” This presentation aims to shed light on the historical events and their implications for understanding global justice.
When: 6:30 pm on Wednesday, April 24.
Where: St Sahag Armenian Church (203 North Howell Street, Saint Paul, MN). The talk will be held in Yerevan Hall, which is next to the sanctuary.


No registration is required. All are welcome!

Speaker Details:
Dr. Melanie O’Brien is a Visiting Professor at the Center for Holocaust and Genocide Studies, University of Minnesota, USA, and President of the International Association of Genocide Scholars (IAGS). Her most recent book is From Discrimination to Death: Genocide Process through a Human Rights Lens, and it includes extensive research on the Armenian Genocide conducted in Armenia and Turkiye. Dr O’Brien has conducted research across six continents and was recently a Research Fellow at the Sydney Jewish Museum and a Visiting Fellow at the University of Loughborough. Dr O’Brien’s usual role is Associate Professor of International Law at the University of Western Australia.
